Its been a busy 2011 for Decatur Boxing Club and all we are involved in. We've put on two excellent Atlanta Corporate Fight Night boxing shows, we finally got to see the 1984 Olympic Boxing team reunited in their ONLY reunion since the Olympics, We had the first ever Celebrity Fight Night, we won fights, we made music.. it was a great year. In fact, it got so busy that our blogging sort became all but impossible for the last half of the year. But 2012 is here! it will be the best year EVER!

Meet '84 Olympic Gold Medalist Tyrell Biggs at Atlanta Corporate Fight Night 3!

On November 3rd meet 1984 Olympic Gold Medalist Tyrell Biggs as he joins his fellow '84 Olympic Boxing Team members in the first ever reunion of the entire team being held on Atlanta Corporate Fight Night 3 at The Foundry at Puritan Mill!

Tyrell is the Super Heavyweight Gold Medalist from 1984 and went on to have a stellar professional career fighting all of the biggest names in the heavyweight division. He was an especially talented heavyweight, best known for his "bad jab" and excellent boxing skill. You can read more about Tyrell by clicking here. Well, I've been outclassed.. DJ Nabs caught my post on him and gave his own take on boxing, and he is a talented writer too, so you probably want to hear it from him. Its too fun having his music in the gym now.

Dj Nabs In Da HoUsE at Decatur Boxing Club! Bad Pads and Bad Nabs Making Some New Music!

We have a very special new fighter-in-training at Decatur Boxing Club that MUST be announced, but needs no introduction! One of the greatest and most original Disc Jockeys ever known to American hip hop is now training with Xavier Biggs in preparation for a real USA Boxing sanctioned bout which will be held on Decatur Boxing Club's Celebrity Boxing show!

DJ Nabs was originally scheduled to box on June 9th for the debut show at Center Stage Theater, but has been rescheduled for the next show, so look to see him making a NEW kind of music in the ring soon! He will forever be changed once he steps in that ring, so we know already that he is family! As one of the most down to earth celebrities I personally have ever met, I know Atlanta will be cheering him on looking to see the evidence of the music he makes being displayed with his hands and feet in a whole new way. As anyone who has stepped in that ring knows, you have to have a whole lot of character to get in there, so that's only a small testimony to the man behind the music.

Look to see Nabs at Center Stage on June 9th though, scratching and lighting that stage on fire as he shares his talents to the audience as part of the evening's entertainment!

Nabs has an incredible story that is about to be told as well. Big Wins For DBC Fighters & An ESPN Fight April 8th

Several great things have been happening for Decatur Boxing Club fighters over the past month. Big wins came at the Georgia Golden Gloves with championships being awarded to Karie Contreras, Jermain Burgess, Rashidi Flowers, and of course one more time to "kitten" Carlos Monroe. This makes Carlos a six-time Golden Gloves champion!

And big news with the professional fighters, new to DBC and Xavier Biggs' stable, soon to be world title contender Derek Edwards (25-1) will be seen Friday, April 8th on ESPN 2's Friday Night Fights from Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada battling Adonis Stevenson over ten rounds on the undercard of David Lemiux vs Marco Antonio Rubio for the WBC middleweight championship.

Congratulations to all of our new amateur champions, and be sure to tune in for Derek Edwards/Adonis Stevenson next Friday night!

Decatur Docs presents a screening of Frederick Wiseman's film "Boxing Gym" with special guests Terri "The Boss" Moss and Friends

Decatur Docs, a new film series in Decatur, GA, will be screening Frederick Wiseman's newest documentary "Boxing Gym" at 8:00 pm on Saturday, March 5th at Decatur High School (310 N. McDonough St., Decatur, GA 30030).

For over 40 years, Frederick Wiseman, the director of "Boxing Gym", has been making award-winning documentary films. While the subject matter of his films varies from dancers in the Paris Opera Ballet to members of the US Air Force to inmates/patients at Bridgewater State Hospital for the criminally insane, Wiseman's aim to spotlighting the personal experience is met in each of his documentaries. His subtle, yet stirring films are sure to leave a lasting impression no matter what the subject, and his newest film is no exception. The core of "Boxing Gym" is Lord's Gym, an Austin, Texas institution, which was founded sixteen years ago by Richard Lord, a former professional boxer. Terri Moss Named Women's Boxing Chairman For Champions Of Dignity Association

Champions Of Dignity Association is a new sanctioning body headed by Alex Ramos of the Retired Boxers Foundation and Marcel Niessen of Matchbox.

Retired WIBF/WIBA straw weight champion Terri Moss of Atlanta, GA has been named Woman's Boxing Chairman for the Champions of Dignity Association (C.O.D.A.) by Retired Boxer's Foundation founder and President Alex Ramos.

“I'm honored to be included on a panel with such an outstanding group of my peers,” Moss said. “And I'm excited to expand my work and role in the world of boxing and be able to represent women in particular, which is a goal I've had since the beginning of my career. Working for such worthy and important organizations as the R.B. F. and C.O.D.A. Is a very high honor and fits right in place with the work I'm doing with my own fighters, and the work I'm doing in promotions combining boxing and philanthropy for Atlanta Corporate Fight Night.”

Other chairpersons serving C. O. D.A. Include Freddie Roach, Wayne McCullough, Azumah Nelson, Tim Witherspoon, John David Jackson, Jose Antonio Rivera. Retired female champions om the board also include Laura Serrano and Marischa Sjauw.

Atlanta Corporate Fight Night 2 Is On!

ACFN 2 is set! Atlanta's business class goes toe to toe again for a great cause, this time on Saturday, April 23rd, 2011, as part of the Georgia Fighters Combat Sports Expo at Wild Bills located at 2075 Market Street, Duluth, GA 30096!

We will be a part of a complete combat sports exhibition April 23rd with live boxing and MMA shows set for the whole day. Meet vendors and see the latest in goods and services offered in our field. We (Decatur Boxing Club) will also be hosting a great amateur boxing show with some of Georgia's BEST young talent earlier in the day, then another glamorous black tie affair with Atlanta's most respected corporates doing their thing for charity in Atlanta Corporate Fight Night! There will also be a professional MMA show after our show, so its a whole day of ring sports in an incredible partnership of Atlanta's BEST promoters, venue, and vendors, presenting the best competition in Atlanta.

Our Charity information will be available next week as we partnership to raise money and awareness for some of Atlanta's most cherished and prized charities. And while they do great things for our communities, they need money, and they need support and awareness raised as to what they do and what they need. Your support is always appreciated!

Great Seminar in Charlotte, New Friends And a Great Partner!

This past weekend I had a really GREAT time at Dick Harrell's Martial Arts with a really great bunch of eager learners as we went through a four hour boxing seminar. Most of the people there were already pretty advanced in Thai boxing, though some were beginners, so getting a new perspective on boxing skill is really good for their confidence and their Thai boxing game. We covered all the basics. There were girls who drove two and a half hours to do the seminar.. I was really flattered. I look really forward to working with them again and hanging out with some of the students.

Looking toward 2011!

Well its been a good year.. We got a lot accomplished; Big, big things like Atlanta Corporate Fight Night, a new publicist (Amy Green), some new female fighters who I hope to get up on my website this week, new boxing chicks learning their skills, we won some championships (Crystal Bush won Women's National Golden Gloves), and we finally got some action for Jackie Breitenstein with one exhibition and one fight, and we had a much better year than the one before. Looking at 2011 all I see is more fun and accomplishment coming our way. Some things in the near future to look out for:

January 8th I will be in Charlotte, NC I will be doing a four hour boxing seminar at Dick Harrell Martial Arts center at 1pm. If you live in the area and would like to attend you can register from his website here. Come see me there, its going to be a great seminar!

March 19th Atlanta's Golden Girl Promotions headed by WIBF World Champion Ljeoma Egbunine will be presenting another great boxing show billed "Return of the Champions" featuring a main event with Ljeoma herself as she returns to the ring now with a new little son she named "Praise". Our own Jackie Breitenstein (5-0) will also be featured on the card along with DBC's Justin Keyhoe (1-0) and Felix Fernandez making his professional debut. In addition to these fights, I plan to FINALLY have that retirement fight that fell out in 2008! There are several huge hurtles to jump to make that happen because there are extensive medicals I have to get just to get licensed no matter how great my conditioning is, so I'm looking for some prayers and ideas on how to raise the money for that. I think that's going to cost around $2,500 just to get licensed. I'm don't plan on that stopping me though, so I'll keep you posted!

Up and coming women’s boxing prospect, Jackie Breitenstein ( 5-0 KO5) will be taking on Brenda Rodrigues on December 3rd at the World Congress Center in Atlanta,Georgia. Jackie whose strong hands and solid punches have helped her to easily knockout all her opponents in the early rounds of their bouts is excited to sharpen her offensive and defensive skills in this four rounder which promises excitement.

Jackie who has learned to successfully juggle her day job as a therapeutic recreation specialist with her boxing career is a true woman on the move. Reporting: Atlanta Corporate Fight Night. We made some noise!!

Well, its taken a month to get this post out, but I've finally collected all of the information to report on everything that happened for Atlanta Corporate Fight Night. What an experience, what hard work, but what a rewarding thing it turned out to be. Here's the story, the press results, the fights, as I saw things unfold..

October 21st, 2010, Atlanta Corporate Fight Night..

Its not often that you can refer to a boxing event and and have sentimental feelings that growmore sentimental as time passes by. But the debut of Atlanta Corporate Fight Night proved to be more than an ordinary boxing show. This show brought together (as my publicist has said, though better than me I'm sure) the perfect measure of boxing, fitness, and philanthropy, and it created life-long memories for many of those involved. I really can't wait until our next show, and even now the plans are on. We're looking at April 2011. Stay posted!

There are so many things to tell, so many great things that happened for so many people, that the best way I can find to describe it is just to write it as it happened, so here goes.

THE BOXERS were selected from our two auditions in June and July and they began training in August. Ten long weeks they trained preparing for their bouts. Some time during the training camp we were contacted by Atlanta Magazine and they did a nice piece on my career; the boxing, training, and the show. You can read that article by clicking this LINK. It was a real honor to be in Atlanta's "posh" society-style magazine.

About 4 weeks through the training camp my publicist Amy Green put us in contact with Atlanta journalist Ben Bussard who spotlighted us every week for six weeks in Atlanta's premier weekly entertainment magazine Creative Loafing. WOW! It was incredible to get this kind of coverage!

Ben posted stories about the function of Atlanta Corporate Fight Night and a new story each week covering a different fight on the card. The only ones that weren't covered were the alternate bout, which by fight time was changed to our first bout (Audra George vs Gala Chapman) and the Betsy Terrell / Trecia Neal fight because it fell out late in the training due to work-related scheduling conflicts that Betsy had at the last minute. However, we did find a replacement for Betsy, and Betsy was gracious enough having sponsored herself through her own consulting company Pink Bird Solutions, to sponsor her replacement Lisa Bledsoe out of Raleigh NC.

Lisa is trained by former world champion Bonnie Mann in Raleigh, and came ready to fight on short notice, with no trainer, no corner, and only on the hope that we when she got to Atlanta we would treat her honorably and fairly. These two women both did awesome things that few people would have done to make the show go on. A HUGE thank you goes out to Betsy and Lisa.

We also landed a nice piece in the Atlanta Journal/Constitution by renowned journalist Steve Hummer. I have a copy of the printed version, but I didn't get to the online version in time to see if it was there. You can see the article below. If you click on the image you can see a larger version. It was in the Sports section of the Sunday paper on October 17th. For the article Steve highlighted the stories of Mike Brown and Joe Song.

When Ciena Corporation hopped on board as our presenting sponsor they were really excited because their own Mike Brown was representing their company on Atlanta Corporate Fight Night! Bo Gowan of Ciena did all kinds of things to promote ACFN and Mike's training and preparation for his bout. They even created a a custom tab on their Facebook page SEE HERE. And they kept updating their page with new stuff as they got it. They also created a cool photo album on their Facebook page, (SEE HERE) and if that wasn't enough, they created a couple awesome Youtube videos of Mike training you can see below. They blogged Mike's story too, his progress, and what they experienced from the show. You can see their blog HERE.

It was such an honor to work with a great corporation who got involved to raise money for our charities, and who put so much attention on their own participant. The partnership we had with Ciena Corporation is what Atlanta Corporate Fight Night envisioned from the beginning. Many thanks to Ciena, what an honor. Several of the "suits" from the company flew in from Baltimore MD to see Mike fight.

We were also very happy to have Erin Steele from Bert's Big Adventure at the show to be ringside at the Q100/Bert's Big Adventure bout and accept the funds raised for the charity.

A special thanks goes out to the girls from THE HIRSCH ACADEMY, for helping us with the silent auction, and we were very happy to have been able to raise money for such a wonderful school. We sent them back to Hirsch with 100% of the proceeds from the auction and all of the items that were not purchased so that they can auction them in their spring auction as well!

Once things quieted down and it seemed things were getting back to normal, we just kept getting more and more great responses to the show.

Sandy Webb, a freelance writer in Atlanta contacted me right after the show about a piece she did on Roni Williams Jones boxing in Atlanta Corporate Fight Night that was featured in the Buckhead Review. To read that article click this LINK. Roni made the cover and a nice spread on pages 3 & 4.

Then we received a closing blog post from Ciena which was featured on their blog. You can read that link HERE.

Lisa Bledsoe, who was our last minute replacement for Betsy Terrell, had a story written on her adventures in boxing on Atlanta Corporate Fight Night. the story was written by Rachel Healy of the Garner Citizen near Raleigh, North Carolina. You can read that story at the LINK.

Lisa keeps a well read blog herself, and she too wrote a story about her experience boxing on ACFN. Her blog can be read HERE.

Some really cool media that popped up came from Joe Song, the youth pastor who won his bout against Andy Prucha. He developed an awesome video clip for his bible study that had some cool footage while he was training for his fight. Check it out.

Then I got this really awesome letter from the Hirsch Academy that mentioned what they did with the monies raised for them at the Silent Auction. Here's what they said:

Terri has been an absolute inspiration to all the students at Hirsch Academy. She volunteered with us for an entire school year, dedicating one day a week to coaching our kids in boxing sessions. Because of these experiences, our students felt strong and powerful and having a new awareness of being able to move their bodies with power and control. We owe so much to her and our hearts will always be fuller (and muscles stronger) because of her work with us. Having Terri honor us as one of the beneficiaries for the Fight Night was fabulous. She raised much needed money for our kids with very specific needs. Our students at Hirsch struggle with thinking, communicating, and relating to others. With the money she raised, we are able to implement a new program that helps our kids understand how to increase their thinking as it relates to their body and higher level thinking. We couldn't ever thank terri enough for what she's done for our kids...our kids who deserve everything. Thank you terri!!

There has been so much great publicity, its been even better than we expected for our first show! We had a GREAT publicist, Amy Green, has continued to work to get us publicity even after the show. She even landed a spot for us in JET MAGAZINE for the November 27th issue. You can see our piece below.

We awarded MIKE BROWN with BOXER OF THE TOURNAMENT for his outstanding support and fund raising for the show, his great sportsmanship, and for putting it all on the line like no one else did, and we awarded TRECIA NEAL with the SPORTSMANSHIP AWARD for the incredible sportsmanship she showed by assisting her own opponent with needed clothing, a warm reception, and so many great things that you just don't see in every day people. Saturday night in Atlanta, GA, on an excellent show promoted by Golden Girl Promotions Lgeoma Egbunine, our own Jackie Breitenstein (5-0) defeated Keytiada Cook (0-1) in 4 rounds by 1st round TKO, and Lisa Bolin (3-3) defeated Cassandra Lindsey (3-6) by 4-round UD. Last month Jackie and Lisa had an excellent exhibition and got to fight on the same show! Congratulations to both of them!

Ben's Sports Take: Atlanta Corporate Fight Night

I'm not one who has ever been a big proponent—or even a passive onlooker—of reality television.

The idea that otherwise nondescript people could somehow offer an alternative and illuminating perspective on life simply by carrying out their everyday, mundane routine seems rather implausible.

The bulk of today's reality shows are fabricated and even scripted in an effort to attract as many viewers as possible. Thus, raising the argument over how realistic reality television really is.

But I'm not here to debate the many foibles of American society that are brought to light by our insatiable appetite for such television programming.

I want to talk about the one thing that most reality shows seem to be lacking these days and the one local event that is certain to have plenty of it: Reality.

Have you ever had one of those days where nothing seems to go right?

It's as if your life has turned into a scene out of Office Space and no matter how hard you try, you can't escape the doldrums of your 9 to 5.

You'd give anything to add some sense of excitement or variety to your life, but you're just not sure how to do it.

Does stepping into a boxing ring and going toe-to-toe with someone just as disenchanted with their everyday life as you are sound like something you'd be interested in?

Well, Atlanta Corporate Fight Night is affording some of Atlanta's business professionals this very opportunity.

And the best part is that you can watch it all unfold.

On October 21 inside the Marriott Century Center in northeast Atlanta, 14 locals with absolutely zero boxing experience will step inside the ring to see who's got what it takes to ditch the briefcase and—for one night—become an amateur boxer.

Eight females and six males ranging in ages from 24 to 52 will take part in the biggest USA Boxing-sanctioned 'white collar boxing' event in Atlanta history.

The seven bouts will pit accountants against Senate officers, consultants against biologists, real estate agents against registered nurses and even sales reps against youth pastors.

Needless to say, you won't find entertainment like this anywhere else.

All of the participants have been training with professional trainers for the past several months leading up to their October 21 bout.

Former female professional boxer and 2008 Strawweight Champion of the World, Terri "The Boss" Moss has been training the women for their fights while Decatur Boxing Club owner Xavier Biggs, who has 35 years of experience in the sport of boxing, has trained the men.

Tickets to the event are still available on the event website (www.atlantacorporatefightnight.com) and all of the proceeds raised from the event will benefit numerous local charities including Bert's Big Adventure and the Hirsch Academy.

DBC Amateurs Win Fights And Belts!

Decatur Boxing Club fighters spent the weekend at the Title National championships this weekend in Droaville and brought home big belts for their wins! Carlos Monroe (above) won his um-teenth title (we don't even know how many now, we lost count years ago) winning two bouts in the 165 JO class to take the title, and Felix "the cat" Fernandez (below) won his first national championship defeating two opponents in his weight class. Keep your eyes open for Felix as he makes a transition into the pros very soon. He's really going to make some noise!

For the females, Ronda Williams (below, left) won her first bout and totally got robbed in her second, as we thought she won that fight more convincingly than any she has won yet in her boxing career. A girl from Texas took home the belt, but we know we'll see her again. Two time national champion Crystal Bush went for the tournament but not one 120 pounder showed up to fight, and she didn't get the chance to compete. We'll be back out soon to claim more victories!

Boxing Chicks Bid Farewell To British Boxer Pamela Joseph

A sad farewell goes out to our own newest boxing chick, Pamela Joseph. We got to have her for five weeks, but we knew eventually she would have to go home and she did. We tried to keep her, but she would have none of that, traipsing off into the busiest airport in the world all by herself with bags full of Abercrombie and Mac to keep her company. In a tribute to all of the fun the we had, I'm posting some of her own photos and experiences in her five week training camp with the boxing chicks of Decatur Boxing Club.

First off my cat. The ugliest cat in the world, but made totally out of rubber. She lets you do what ever you want with her and she just purrrrrs.

Feet at the gym. Only Pam would catch this image and make us all go.. "cool".

She rode the electric bull..

She caught a praying mantis at the sushi bar..

She took pictures of jellyfish..

And kissed a fish..

She saw Iron Man II at the faaabulous Fox.

And kayaked a slow rolling southern river.. no gators though, SUCKED.

We told her a small pizza wasn't a "one-zie" size..

She licked blue frogs at Fernbank.. ok, we didn't lick them, but we wanted to.

The Braves rocked! And so did this big ball. They had to hold it up.

The foot long.. who could resist?

The biggest coke in the stands..

We had cotton candy..

Peanuts in our coke.. the bomb.

And Pam bought every kind of Braves paraphernalia in the stands. A baseball fan for life.

She jumped on beds on the beach at South Beach in Miami.

And more beds...

And ran barefoot on the beach after a day of scuba!

But of all the fun, the very BEST part... boxing. Her first days of sparring are here. Here's Pam and Audra, the lil' technician.

What a busy but GREAT week for Atlanta Corporate Fight Night! We have almost all of the matches complete, boxer sponsorships are going well, and we're starting to get out

into the public!

This week we had the HONOR to spend a little time with Jeff Davis of Atlanta Business Radio, the manager of JW Broadcasting, Inc., AM1690 "the voice of the arts", and News Talk 1160, "The talk of the town". We were able to talk about Atlanta Corporate Fight Ni

ght and boxing in general. Its always a pleasure to talk to Jeff as he has a special knowledge of the sweet science having spend plenty of time in the gym himself! Although we tried and tried to get him on the show, it was of no avail so far, but who knows if Jeff will actually step in the ring at some time. He's quite a boxer.

This Saturday from 12-1pm we will hold our last audition for Atlanta Corporate Fight Night at Decatur Boxing Club located at 137-C New Street in Decatur, GA. We are very close to completing the card but don't want to pass up any potential boxers who may wish to get on the show, so if you or anyone you know is interested, drop by between 12-1pm, or reach us from the website as soon as possible! Training begins August 9th!

DBC's Newest Boxing Chick Pamela Joseph!

We have a new boxing chick at Decatur Boxing Club (for about five weeks), and she will kick your butt! Meet Pamela Joseph, from "near Wales" as she calls it, though most of us still can't figure out exactly where that is especially considering that we only judge England by whether or not its Ricky Hatton land or Joe Calzaghe land. She came all the way from England to get some great boxing training, work the pads, sharpen her defense, and experience American living.

Here she is. What a cutie. But you shouldn't say that to her face..

I thought I would share a little about her first couple of weeks. We decided to start her visit off spending some of her dad's cold hard cash.. hehe..

So naturally I took her for a premium American shopping experience.

And she had the pleasure of meeting a real live Walmart greeter!

Pamela hung tight with the boxing chicks at a sparring session in Winder, about 35 miles from Atlanta. Although little Nick made us all look bad.

Here we are with some of the boxing chicks from Off The Ropes gym in Winder.

We went to Athens to and with Riley a while and did a little walking downtown. There are University of Georgia bulldogs all over town, so she found one she liked. Oh, Pamela also decided she's going to college there.

We spent the whole day shopping, and once we burned up her dad's cash we had to round up some more money, so Pamela went right to work. It could have turned out pretty lucrative if it weren't for this stupid meter.

But we did get a little more shopping in, and while we did it Riley got tired of waiting and

decided to take a head out and catch up with us later.

When we got back to the ATL, we introduced Pamela to her first American burger at Atlanta's hot new gourmet burger joint called Flip. Here Pamela is with Libby.

Pamela will be here for three or four more weeks, so she's getting used to this kind of pose..

Decatur Boxing Club Fighters Win Fights And Championships!

This past weekend DBC amateur boxers had a great showing at the Georgia State Games in Doraville, GA. Several won fights, Darren Matthews and Rashidi Flowers, and two won state championships, Danny Beaty and Ronda Williams. We are very proud to have two more champions at Decatur Boxing Club, and we are just as proud of the efforts of all of our amateurs and congratulate them all on their wins and efforts.

Atlanta Corporate Fight Night is a glamorous boxing event benefitting Decatur's Hirsch Academy, a highly specialized school for special needs students with developmental and emotional disabilities. Ten participants shall be chosen to box in five sponsored bouts. Experience is NOT necessary. Auditions will be held at Decatur Boxing Club, located at 137-C New Street, Decatur, GA, 30030, Saturday July 17 and Saturday July 31 from 12-4 PM. Both males and females of all sizes and ages are encouraged to audition. We want to make you a star October 21 for a great cause!

Terri Moss, organizer of Atlanta Corporate Fight Night will select the boxers once all applications and auditions have been reviewed. Boxers chosen be chosen based on several attributes including commitment to the event, charisma, athletic ability, potential to match, sponsorship potential and more. Once chosen, the boxer will be involved in a series of media promotions and events as well as a ten week training “camp” with their professional boxing trainer. On fight night, they will box three two minute rounds in a real boxing match sanctioned by USA Boxing and Georgia Amateur Boxing Association. Sponsorship information and details will be provided at the auditions. Potential boxers not able to attend the two designated auditions can apply online and participate in a phone interview. Former Pro Bowl Running Back and Georgia Tech alumni DORSEY LEVENS will host the Atlanta Corporate Fight Night weigh in and press conference. Levens resides in Atlanta and as an 11 year NFL veteran amassed 4955 rushing yards with 1243 carries and 53 touchdowns during his career, in which he played for the Green Bay Packers, Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants.

“Boxing is a sport I am very enthusiastic about,” Levens said, “ and I am looking forward to Atlanta Corporate Fight Night and helping to raise some scholarship funds for the Hirsch Academy.” Levens has had some boxing training since his NFL days, and encourages participation from anyone who has a passion or interest for The Sweet Science. “Try out for Atlanta Corporate Night- it’s a chance to receive some good training, then put your skills to the test one on one for a very deserving organization and their students.”

DBC Boxing Chicks Run The Peachtree!

This weekend DBC boxing chicks are getting together to run the Peachtree Road Race on Sunday, July 4th in downtown Atlanta! The Peachtree is the biggest 10K race in the county, and its one HUGE social event! Even as big as it is with over 45,000 runners every year, its still not as big as Atlanta Corporate Fight Night! lol Ok, maybe a LITTLE bigger..

This is my first experience with this race, and though I've known about it for many years, I've never been too interested in spending the morning of my 4th of July in downtown Atlanta running up a big hill. But alas! There are many things I have recently learned about the Peachtree Road Race that made it much more appealing! for example:

-people actually drink beer while they run this race

-there are vendors and bands playing all along the sidelines

-"numbers" for the race are actually hot commodities. If you can get an early start, you can actually buy as many as you can and then scalp them for twice their value the week of the race

-running the race gets you a coupon for free hash browns, a free waffle, and even a free topping for your hash browns at Waffle House, of which there are at least ten along the race path. Now THAT fact alone is worth running.

-some people actually CARE about their "time"! (meaning how long it takes them to get to the finish line) While I am a competitor myself, the notion of blasting past the 1000 people on your start time who are elbowing you to get past, and doing it to improve my race time is totally appealing!

All of this really perked my interest, so the boxing chicks are packing our coolers and hitting the hill. We just want to get to the end by the time the shuttle quits running, which means no stopping to hear a particular band; no stopping for additional adult beverages; and don't stop at the port-o-johns. Wish us luck!!

Although its been well over a WEEK since a blog post, its been for a VERY worthy cause, as I've been too, too busy getting things off of the ground so that FINALLY I can say, "ITS ON!!" WOO-HOO!!! Atlanta Corporate Fight Night is set! We're off and rolling and WOW are things moving!

We already have FOUR sponsored boxers in less than a week, so if you want to box, ready yourself now for our auditions coming up July 17th and July 30th. Also, the website is coming along nicely, though it will grow as the details of the show do, so keep an eye out for what is certain to be Atlanta's HOTTEST black tie charity boxing event!

You may as well put us on your favorites or you'll be typing us in every day, because you'll be addicted watching all of the fun and drama that comes to life as our white collar boxers train and ready themselves for this incredible show. DBC Chicks Return With Medals, Wins, And Crystal Bush Wins The Championship!

It was a big week for DBC's female amateurs at the Women's National Golden Gloves. We walked away with three medals this week, one gold and two bronze, and a world of experience! "quicksilver" Crystal Bush was the big winner talking the gold Saturday night against Annie McBride of Louisiana. It was a fast paced fight, and Crystal showed her speed and dominance throughout the bout cracking her opponent with quick combinations.

Krichele Featherston was 1-1 for the tournament, winning bronze, and Ronda Williams also was 1-1 winning the bronze medal. Kris and Ronda both preformed very well in their second bouts and captured wins Saturday night also.

The tournament was on Hollywood Beach this year with all of the fun the beach has to offer. We also ran into some great boxing people at the event.

Here I am with Barbara Butrick the founder of the WIBF, the organization I proudly represented with my World Title. Barbara is one of the most respectable faces in women's boxing, having been a strawweight champion herself. I just adore Barbara.

And here is Ronda, her sister and fellow boxing chick Roni, and their mom on the beach. Ronda's family came all the way down to see her fight.

Here's little quicksilver. She needs to be on the cover of "bad-looking boxing chick" magazine. She's just one little package of muscles.

Here I am with Butch Gottlieb and Mary Ann Owen. Mary Ann was there doing a book signing for her recent publication, "Extraordinary women of the ring". Reach her on Facebook and get a copy of that book! Its a collaboration of her work for many years as a boxing photographer. Although most of her work has originated from the western part of the US and I never got to see her at a card I fought on, (so I'm not in the book) its the first of its kind, and I believe it will do a lot to bring awareness of what kind of athletes and fighters we are in women's boxing. She signed a copy for me. :)

And here I am with Jr. Flyweight champion Ria Ramnarine from Trinidad. It was awesome to meet her finally. We were close in weight classes when i was fighting, but I'm glad now we didn't fight as we have become great friends. Ria is doing great in Trinidad with her career, so be looking out for her.

Crystal Bush Advances To The Championship!

Last night DBC's "quicksilver' Crystal Bush defeated Stephanie Friemel out of Texas earning her advancement to the championship on Saturday night! Crystals speed, defense, and footwork earned the win for her. Look for her to win Saturday night!

For tonight, Kris Featherston boxes Melissa Langer from RI, and Ronda Williams boxes Maria Dominguez from FL. I'll post the news after the bouts.

For those of you who purchased the PPV for the WNGG and didn't get to see the fights because of technical difficulties, well.. that stinks. :) I think they got it worked out, but I can't say for sure.

DBC chicks are soaking up the sun in beautiful Hollywood, Florida as they fight for the gold medal at the Women's National Golden Gloves this week! Crystal Bush has her first fight tonight, then tomorrow Ronda Williams and Kris Featherston fight their first round in the tournament. This year you can see the tournament live via live webcast at this link. There is a small charge for each night. The boxing starts at 6:30pm today through Friday and 7:30pm each night. The rates are:

Woo-Hoo! Decatur Boxing Club boxing chicks showed their support for the too-fun crew at Platinum Championship Wrestling Friday night in Avondale Estates and had a GREAT time

hanging with the celebrities of the wrestling ring and cheering for the "good guys"! The wrestlers were really nice, and agreed to some great pics with us! PCW shows in Avondale Estates happen every Friday night at 8pm at the Academy Theater, so go on out and see their show!

Hector Camacho Jr Wins The WBF Middlewight Title!

Last night in Georgetown, Guyana Decatur Boxing Club's Hector Camacho Jr claimed the WBF Middleweight Intercontinental Title when he defeated Denny Dalton with a twelve round unanimous decision. The fight in Guyana was a breath of fresh air after Hector trained for more one fight that fell out late in his training. Hector's win also puts him one step closer to an anticipated championship fight against Fernando Vargas! Congratulations Macho!

Hector Camacho Jr arrived in Georgetown, Guyana this week for his June 5th showdown with Denny Dalton at the Princess Hotel. The fight is scheduled for 12 rounds. Hector looked sharp before he left, so we're sure he'll be home with a win! This is one of a series of fights for Hector that will lead to a title fight against Fernando Vargas later this year or early next year.

This weekend Decatur Boxing Club's own superstar JO "kitten" Carlos Monroe easily swept the Southern Regional Silver Gloves tournament, moving him on now to the Nationals coming up in June. Carlos is a 4-time Golden Gloves Champion, has won the Georgia Games three times, as well as many other championships. We look for him to be our Olympic hopeful in the near future! Decatur Boxing Club Females Win USA Boxing Championships!

This weekend was a busy weekend for DBC amateur boxing chicks! We had three boxing and came away with two championships. Not a bad weekend!

We began the tournament Saturday with Crystal Bush boxing at 125. She didn't pull of the win for this bout, but will be ready to go it again in Florida next month. Also Saturday Ronda Williams won her 165 pound amateur debut in a preliminary bout moving her on to the finals for Sunday.

Then on Sunday Krichele Featherston decisioned a shut out against her southpaw opponent from X3 Sports in Atlanta dropping her in round two with a quick counter right hand which won her the championship, and Ronda, now 2-0, won her her first championship in a close split decision over a tough boxer from Atlanta Art of Boxing. Here are some of the highlights!

Talking boxing, we discuss some of the cultures and relationships in boxing, and talk about the screening of "Raging Bull" at Atlanta's hippest Theater, The Plaza Theater located in Midtown at 1049 Ponce De Leon Avenue. The Plaza is known for their alternative and artsy list of too cool films and documentaries. Bad Pads and The Boss will be there at 7:00PM, to show off some of their crazy pad work before the movie! Wow, has it been that long since I posted? Lots has happened to report on over the past few weeks!

Things got a little crazy a couple of weeks ago when someone rear-ended me in my vintage BMW and totaled it. Its the second time someone has hit me and totaled the car I was driving in less than a month! So I've spent the past two weeks really busy with a multitude of frustrating things crowding my calender. Fortunately I finally found a car I wanted and am beginning to get back on track, and there has been a LOT going on!

First off we want to congratulate Decatur Boxing Club's own Olympic Bronze Medalist Zahir Raheem who boxed a beautiful shut out win over tough Mexican journeyman Roberto Valenzuela on April 22 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

We also congratulate DBC member Tricha Neal for having been the "biggest looser" at our 3-day boot camp April 30 - May 2. Tricha lost 7.5 pounds! DBC prospect Jose "bazooka" Martinez may still be celebrating after he won a well-earned 4-round decision on May 1st at Legends in Atlanta. He will be fighting again June 4th in Miami.

DBC amateurs will be fighting May 21-23 in Atlanta in a USA Boxing tournament, and Hector Camacho Jr is scheduled to fight in Ghana in May. Hector was supposed to fight in a title fight May 7th in Connecticut, but the show was canceled at the last minute. Though disappointed, Hector moved on and is looking forward to the fight in Ghana. Be looking out for Hector on the front lines of the boxing scene as he tunes up for his big fight against Fernando Vargas later in the year.

Yesterday I was scrolling though Decatur Boxing Chick Audra George's Facebook page and I ran across several of her drawings she posts there. They're really funny and SO her! She's my little mini-flyweight with crazy technical skills who really enjoys getting slapped around in the gym. :) She's a really good boxer who has a little spark I'm trying to light! Audra is a student at Georgia State, and has already published a children's book called "Vagabonding". You can look her up on Facebook. In fact, she could use a LOT more friends. ha! Here are some of her boxing drawings, all true stories that actually happened. I'm keeping them for my office.

Bossy Cat Tales!

Some of you know I've been spending a lot of time with my daughter (Melissa, Melissa Pepin Photography -can I get a PLUG?) and her Dr. boy in Athens. I took my cat over there and she LOVES it! But what's not to love? Its a BIG house with a nice year, a pond across the street, a big creek in the backyard.. I'm a cat lover, what can I say? Well.. I love mine anyway. But ever since she got there these cats have been showing up at Melissa's house, and now there's one who won't leave. Its a boy, but I guess he hasn't figured that my girlie is fixed. He just sits there either at the front door or at the garage door when its open.. looking in the window. Sometimes he meows to get in. Here he is in the garage (above). the boy and I think its pretty funny. Melissa may not be so amused though. Party pooper. I told her she should just let him in. Lets take a vote. Let him in or no? Decatur Boxing Club Boxing Chicks To Run The Peachtree Road Race! Registration Opens Sunday, March 21 @ 1:00pm!

Lots going on lately, but first I want to let everyone know that there is greatness amongst you! A big congratulations goes out to DBC's boxing chicks Krishele Featherston and Crystal Bush for winning the Georgia Golden Gloves Championships in their division, so two new champions are added to our stable! A big congratulations goes out to them both!

This year I will be taking a group of boxing chicks to run the famous Peachtree Road Race together the morning of July 4th! This will be loads of fun because for us, it won't be just about the race or the pace, it will be about the about the fun! We'll be going for food and (for some) adult beverages after the race, and if you know anything about the Peachtree, you know that its much more of a fun time than it is work! What better way to start your celebration for July 4th than with some good exercise!

anyone interested in going with us, please let me know ahead of time, and tell me your shirt size because I will have some hot-looking Decatur Boxing Club Chicks tank tops made just for us to wear for the Peachtree. And if you're not a chick, WE don't mind! We'll dress you like one anyway!

FOR THE PEACHTREE, I'm running a short contest HERE to see if anyone can come up with the best "saying" for the shirts. If you have any ideas drop a comment here letting us know you're idea. The winner will get one free month of training or if you're not a local, you will get one of our great SHIRTS for the race! Woo-hoo! Who could want more?

Below you'll find info on the race, but if you want to join us, its up to you to register. Registration begins this Sunday, 3/21 at 1pm, so try to do it as soon as you can. This is a huge race, (around 40 - 50,000 runners) and they have a cut-off point that will most likely have the race "sold out" within the first few days of registration. Come run (or walk) with us!

Online registration for the 41st running of the AJC Peachtree Road Race will open at 1 p.m. EDT on Sunday, March 21 at ajc.com/peachtree! The first 45,000 out of a total of 55,000 entries will be accepted through online registration. Those unable to secure one of the first 45,000 entries or who prefer mailing in their payment with a registration form can fill out the paper application that will run in the AJC on Sunday, March 28. The event's remaining 10,000 slots will be selected at random from all the paper applications received by mail and postmarked by April 5, 2010.

Decatur Boxing Club Crowns Three New Champions!

This weekend five DBC fighters set out to Macon, GA for the Georgia Golden Gloves championships and brought home three championships!

Our JO "kitten" Carlos Monroe won his division to capture his fourth Golden Gloves Title.

Krichele Featherston (116) defeated Tia Lynch for the GG title, and Crystal Bush (121) won the GG title defeating Taversha Norwood. Carrie Vogler (125) lost a decision in her first fight to Ashley King, but vows to be back! Ronda Williams (170) won unopposed in her division.

Ultimate Gym Fight Night Showed A Great Night of Exhibitions!

Its taken me a week to get these pics up, but I wanted to report on the action in Charlotte, NC at Ultimate Gym's Fight Night last Friday. One thing is for certain, when I don't get to post on the blog you know we're staying busy!

I took five fighters up for exhibitions; Jackie Breitenstein, Ronda Williams, Crystal Bush, Krichele Featherston, and Carrie Vogler. Jackie, Crystal, and I rode up with Ronda and her sister Ronnie. Here we are getting ready to head out, happy that we're cruising up in Ronda & Ronnie's dad's loaded Lincoln Navigator. We brought a movie for the ride. :) (L to R, Crystal, Ronda, Ronnie, Jackie)

Unfortunately, we had a little breakdown when the fine ride lost power. We got to a QT and called daddy who called a wrecker. We really didn't want to loose that ride.

We weren't quite sure how we would get out of the QT parking lot though, being as how we had already gone about 30 miles, but the nice wrecker guy let us ride in the car while he towed it. That way totally my first wrecker ride. What fun!

I totally dug the VIP section with the sofas and recliners.. Why don't they have those at every show? They had a live band and a ROWDY crowd! Too fun.

Everyone boxed very well and we managed to hook up some cool looking pics. It was dark except for right over the ring which gave the shots a cool look. Here I am with Jackie.

Decatur Boxing Club And sherman Williams Presents "Unstoppable"!

A few Months ago Decatur Boxing Club was contacted by Pinwheel USA to take part in a film they were producing for Sherman Williams paint company. Our own "slippery" Fred Tukes had the lead role in the advertisement, and "kitten" Carlos Monroe can be seen sparring with Fred. Xavier Biggs hangs in the background. Decatur Boxing Club Rocks The 2010 Amateur Boxing Series Kick off!

DBC had a GREAT night of exciting boxing Saturday night at our first amateur show kicking off our 2010 boxing series! This show was also the first show in our lead up to our STILL coming 1984 Olympic Reunion coming this summer! Two very special guests joined us from the 1984 Olympic Boxing Team and met with fans who showed lots of love! Super Heavyweight Gold Medalist Tyrell Biggs joined us from Philadelphia, and Middleweight Gold Medalist Frank Tate came all the way from Houston to take part in this show. A really big "thank you" goes out to these beloved fighters showing up in "the ATL" hang our with us for a minute. we can't WAIT to see them again this summer!

And the guys on Tyrell Biggs. You can only appreciate his size when you stand next to him. Wow. We actually managed to match a super heavyweight fight on the card and he was really enjoying watching that fight.

And even more special guests came to hang our a little. Here you have with Tyrell and Frank the awesome Hector Camacho Jr. and 1996 Olympic Bronze medalist Zahir Raheem. Also Atlanta fighter Paul Delgado, and Kenny our announcer. I tried it, but I just couldn't pull off looking as cool as Hector.

DBC's Krichele Featherston is the only fighter we had in the show. We tried to match a few more but couldn't pull it off. Unfortunately her fight got stopped way too early we all thought, because her opponent (Lindsay) took just one or two good shots. We felt like Lindsay (in blue trunks) really didn't get a chance to do her thing in there, and it was obvious she could more if she had had the chance. We're still trying to figure that one out. The whole crowd seemed confused, but that's ok. We'll see Lindsay again in two weeks in Charlotte for Ultimate Gym's "Fight Night' open sparring show, where she can get back in there with Kris and show her stuff at home.

Decatur Boxing Club Amateur Show Feb 20! Special Guests 1984 Olympic Gold Medalists Tyrell Biggs and Frank Tate!

DON'T MISS IT! We are kicking off our 2010 amateur series with a GREAT night of amateur boxing THIS SATURDAY NIGHT, February 20th at 6pm! Admission is only $10 / $5 for children! Don't forget we'll have free beer while it lasts, and our own famous grilled hot dogs, burgers, snacks, candy and the goods on the junk food for the kids. But really, those hot dogs are pretty good. :) Our shows are always GREAT and there will only be about 6-7 fights.

And we have some VERY SPECIAL GUESTS coming! 1984 Olympic Gold Medalists TYRELL BIGGS and FRANK TATE will be ringside for pictures, autographs, and interaction with the fans! They are here to kick off our amateur series as part of the 1984 OLYMPIC REUNION JUNE 5TH! That's right, you can't keep these fighters down! Our reunion had to be postponed last year, and has been rescheduled for June 5th, so look for this incredible Olympic boxing team to reunite for a fabulous tribute to their accomplishments in June!

We will have other VERY special guests as well! Decatur Boxing Club's newest addition, Hector "macho" Camacho junior will be ringside, our own bronze medalist and former WBC champion Zahir Raheem, and WIBF/WIBA World Champion Terri Moss, as well as many other DBC fighters. One last thing, We are doing a small raffle of donated items to raise money for the Georgia Amateur Boxing Association. Our amateur commission almost went bust last year, as did the whole USA Boxing association, so we are trying to do what ever we can to assist them. They have given their entire lives (Buddy and Bo Davis, the GABA commission) to amateur boxing and never been paid a dime, so we want to raise a little to adjust their costs a little, pay for their gas, office supplies, what ever we can. If you or your company would like to donate any item for the raffle, PLEASE let me know as soon as you can, and in exchange we will announce your business as a sponsor and thank you for your contribution fight from the ring between fights. One Match On For Women's Boxing, One To Go!

Are we finally going to see some female boxing?? I think so! So far we have one match with one more very close to being set. We have had a tremendous response from girl-fighters wanting to fight for this show from several different cities and states. Only in women's boxing can you find such determined and hungry fighters who are willing to travel great distances for an amateur club fight! A huge thanks to all who responded, and for those we don't get to match this time, I am going to make it a personal mission of mine to try to get women matched in local boxing shows! A LOT more will be posted on that very soon, so stay in the loop! Big things are coming for female fighters around the states! My goal? LET THERE BE ONE female fight on every show!

So far for our February 20th club show at Decatur Boxing Club we have Krichele Featherston matched with North Carolina Thai fighter Lindsay Seamans. This should be a really good fight, and we wish safety and a good showing to both of these amateurs, and that its a great experience for both as they build their careers!

I'm also very close to matching Carrie Vogler, and as soon as I hear the final word on that I'll post something on that also.

All we want to do is fight, and MAN is it hard to get that going on, but thanks so much to Sue Fox and WBAN we may even get to see some girls fight at our Decatur Boxing Club boxing show on February 20! Decatur Boxing Club Kicks Off 2010 Amateur Boxing Series!

Has it been a while, or WHAT? I've been so busy lately I haven't been able to blog regularly, but now that things are settling in I can move forward with a few things I've been working on, and i get to kick it off with THIS announcement! On February 20th we will be kicking off our 2010 Decatur Boxing Club Amateur Series with a great night of amateur boxing right at the gym. Decatur Boxing Club, though small is a great old school fight venue and we are really excited to bring you this show.

Additionally I've sent a call out to try to (finally!) get some girls matched for this show and it looks like we may have some success. As soon as I know who will be matched I'll post if here. We should have things finalized in a couple of days.

As always, our own 'kitten" Carlos Monroe will be headlining the show with some great boxer who most likely will not go home with a "w". There are very few of those these days with Carlos now a multi-faceted champion, so many I can't name. A cute, stylist and slick boxer, Carlos is always incredible to watch.

The show will be at 6PM Saturday, February 20th at Decatur Boxing Club located at 137-C New Street in Decatur, GA. 30030. We may have a surprise guest there who will be an assisting judge, so look for more on that also.

Looking For A Fight? Puh-lease Get In Touch With Me!

Here they are, Kris and Carrie, with the trophies they "won" from their last uncontested tournament. Not only is it hard to match female fights in general, but matching amateur female fights in Atlanta, GA is -really- hard. I can only think of a handful of active female amateurs in this state over the last few years, and it seems there are even less now than a year ago. I really do think that as we near the 2012 Olympics, more girls will be coming back to boxing, and more new ones will emerge, but for now, its scarce pick'ins. The only matches I've seen lately have been my own girls being matched against each other.

But for the purpose of this post, I'm looking for matches for these two for a small amateur club show February 20th at our gym, Decatur Boxing Club. (www.decaturboxing.com) And to reach outside of the local pick, we will pay for nice accommodations for anyone if they have to travel to get to us. Kris can be matched between 115-123lbs (she's had 3 fights) and Carrie can be matched between 123-128 pounds and hasn't had any fights. We will take anyone in novice division for either. A Little Late, But The Final Bell For Melissa Hernandez. Hernandez' Hand Is Raised!

I'm a little late getting this post up, having been tied up with Patricia Alcivar's fights the past couple of weeks, but I DEFINITELY want to break the news on the final result of the Melissa Hernandez / Holly Holm fiasco. I'm really happy to report (if you haven't read it already) that Melissa came out the winner in this fight. You see, a champion may experience defeat in a battle, but when they're a real champion they keep fighting. Sometimes it happens that way just so their true qualities can be expressed. And a real champion will always win in the end. Melissa took the blows, she stood up, she fought. I'm sure there were a lot of nights she wondered if she made the right decision, but she stuck to her guns and she won the fight. She exposed some things, and in my humble opinion, she made a real statement for female fighters. Congratulations Melissa!

She is scheduled to fight in Charlotte January 28th on Charlotte's 2010 Fight Night for Kids charity boxing event. Her great dream, be the best boxer in the world. A new challenging adventure in which Patricia "Patty Boom Boom" Alcivar, a young Colombian parents, is working since becoming a professional boxer.

And the athlete is an example of overcoming struggle and to follow, since to reach the pedestal where she had to leave behind the bad memories of a tough childhood, cruel and full of sexual abuse at the hand of her alcoholic father.

"Living a difficult childhood made me become a woman fighter, strong with many objectives, which so far have been met step by step, not only in sports but also personally. Now my new goal is to become world boxing champion and professional female to serve as an example of overcoming for many women who experienced similar situations in their childhoods." said Alcivar.

Patty "Boom Boom", a multifaceted athlete who has competed in sports such as cycling, triathlons, gymnastics and martial arts of which she left world champion "Full Contact" in the lightweight division in 1994, has won numerous titles in her journeys in amateur boxing, both individually and representing the United States.

"Now my mind is set on this new phase of my profession, which is a bit harder and riskier. That's why my mental and physical preparation should be much more rigorous," said Patty, who studies for a career in Health and Wellness at the University of North Carolina at Asheville, in addition to working part time as a translator and personal trainer.

The athlete is currently training in downtown Decatur in Georgia, at Decatur Boxing Club under the guidance of Terri "The Boss" Moss, her trainer and handler.
Patricia will be fighting January 28 at the charity event organized by the foundation "Fight Night for Kids" in Charlotte, NC.. This contest will be held at the Charlotte Convention Center located at 501 S. College St., Charlotte, NC 28202, at 6 pm.

Her achievements:
Patty "Boom Boom", from New York, has an impressive amateur record in her boxing career. As an amateur she has won several titles. In 1998 and 1999 in New York she won the New York Golden Gloves championships for two consecutive years at 119 lbs. She also won the gold medal in the First National Boxing Championship for Women in 1997 and in 1998 won the silver medal in the same tournament.

Patricia also has received significant recognition as the winner of the "Athlete of the Year" award for the first time in history awarded to a female by the Olympic Committee of the United States. Also in 1998, "Boom Boom" won the gold medal with the United States team at the first international competition against Canada.

In October 2009, the Columbia Tennessee, Patty made her professional debut winning in only one round by TKO over Jennifer Batcheize at 118 lbs.

No Fight For Patti Boom Boom, But A Chance To Connect With Her Fans..

Well this past weekend turned up to be a futile attempt to fight for Patty "boom boom" Alcivar. We did the training, we made the weight, then.. no one showed up to fight. I can't say that's the first time that's happened to me. I remember one time specifically where my opponent didn't show and I wound up in a nice exhibition "fight" (I say that since we wore no head gear, 8 ounce gloves, in full fight attire) with a welterweight who was growling at me while she attempted to kick my butt. Fortunately she was a sparring partner and stable mate of mine, and it actually turned out to be a much better fight than it would have been with the opponent who was contracted to fight me. Needless to say, we made the best out of it. Patricia wasn't real cool with getting in the rind and working pads and addressing her fans at first, but by the time we were finished and she felt all that love, especially from the Latino fans, she was happy she did it. I hope we get our hands on that opponent one day.

We haven't said much, but besides the Dreamers reality show coming to your favorite network very soon, Patricia is in what will be a long relationship with a Hollywood producer who is making a documentary on her professional boxing career as it climbs to a world title. So basically, everywhere we go we will have a camera guy following us around. That should be fun. I better learn to exercise discretionary verbal assaults.

FINALLY, fight time is here and WHAT a mess! It seems to have been cleared up now, so look for Patti "boom boom" Alcivar in her second professional fight coming up this Saturday night at 8:00pm at the Macon city Auditorium in Macon, GA. Patricia will be fighting Shanna Allen, of South Carolina.

Also, a big welcome goes out to Philadelphia fighter/manager Brian Cohen for making Patricia part of his elite team of top-flight fighters and World Champions. We are looking for big things to happen with such a knowledgeable and experienced manager!
